The KV boys varsity soccer team traveled to conference foe Hobart on Wednesday night and came away on the wrong end of a 2-0 defeat to the host Brickies. In the first half, the Kougars were able to have more offensive chances and possession than they have had in recent games. The best opportunities were off two corner kicks late in the half. Unfortunately both opportunities just sailed wide of the net. In a game that was knotted at zero until the 24th minute mark, the Kougars kept pace with the Brickies for the majority of the half. Only down one heading into the second half, KV controlled more of the ball and attack in the first ten minutes. There was some good opportunities to tie up the game, but the Brickie goalkeeper denied any shots that came his way. With 23 minutes left in the game, Hobart would score its second goal off a deflected shot to make the score 2-0. The Kougars pushed late to get within one, but the sands of the hour glass would run out as the time expired. "I thought our team battled hard again tonight," said head KV coach Jovan Jeftich. "We made a few mistakes defensively that unfortunately cost us in those moments. We had our chances to put a few in the back of the net, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be tonight. I commend my team's work ethic and effort as we never game up until the final whistle. We will regroup over the next few days and hopefully get back in the win column on Saturday at home." KV will host Twin Lakes on Saturday. Game time is set for a 10:30 a.m. start from Fred Jones Field. Game Statistics Saves Damien Vargas 8 Record 3-9 (0-5 NCC)
