Girls' Track and Field Performs Well at Gene Edmonds Relays Friday Night!

Girls’ Track and Field: the Lady Kougars had a strong showing at Friday night’s Gene Edmonds Relays, winning 7 events and finishing TBD team place and points. Liv Adams and Jackie Vander Woude won the shot put relay, with Adams throwing 33'-2.5, continuing the throwers' stellar seasons; Leah Hanselman and Brooklyn Whitt combined for an excellent 9-2 high jump to win that event; Haylee Hass and Jas Robledo won the pole vault relay with Hass vaulting a very impressive 11-0 on the cold evening; the varsity sprint medley relay team of Avery Myers, Sophie Singleton, Reese Van Meter and Elyce Gillette took first in 1:56.81, behind a blistering 62+ come from behind anchor leg by Gillette; the varsity distance medley relay (DMR) team of Faith Terborg, Myers, McKinley Dresbaugh and Krista Sytsma dominated that event from the start, winning in a time of 9:26.20, with Terborg running a terrific 2:33.0 800 lead off leg and Sytsma a smooth and fast 5:14.0 1600 anchor leg; the 9/10 DMR also won their event in dramatic fashion in 10:40.0, with 1600 anchor Ainsley Summers running an incredible 6:05.0 split to make up a ton of ground and win the race, she was preceded by strong runs by Aubree Bristol, Paige Shadley and Annie Lindberg; Cheyenne Flatt, Hass, Dresbaugh and Singleton won another shuttle hurdle relay in a very fast time of 59.34. Terborg also ran a 2:36.0 4x800 lead off leg, Sytsma ran a blistering 2:22.0 anchor in the same race and Myers finished her outstanding night with a blistering 4x400 leg of 62+. Myers, Singleton, Flatt and Gillette were 2nd in the 4x1 in 53.10; Lindsey Crowley, Cam Krueger, Laurel Van Meter and Avery Diener were 3rd in the 9/10 4x1 and 9/10 SMR; Adams and Tinley Van Meter took 4th in the discus relay; A. Diener, Dresbaugh, Myers and Gillette were 2nd in the 4x4; the 4x8 team of Terborg, Haylie Bristol, R. Van Meter and Sytsma were 3rd; Singleton and L. Van Meter took a strong 2nd in the long jump relay, . They return to action Tuesday night at Highland, with Hobart, for the final NCC double dual meet of the season. Go Kougs !
