Kankakee Valley High School boys' track and field team open its indoor season at the Portage Indian Open on Saturday, March 7, 2026. A limited roster competed in the Hoosier State Relays indoor format, which originated in the 1980s by Rensselaer Central coach Gene Edmonds and known as the Bomber-Boiler Relays due to being hosted at Purdue University. Shortly before his retirement, the format was adopted across the state as more and more schools wanted to participate. KV's 3200m relay squad of Owen Sharp, Noah Knoerzer, Markus Terborg, and Matt Hoffman placed 6th out of 18 teams. Sharp and Terborg teamed up with Tyson Whittington and Milo Herz to place 5th in the distance medley relay. Brevin Whaley and Parker Harrington in long jump started their season where they left off -- a good sign of growth, whereas pole vaulters Braden Huff and Joey Patton tied or set new best marks for themselves in pole vault. Dylan Adams, Anthony Versetto, and Max Lyskava represented in the shot put, setting improved marks for themselves. And Nolen Kooistra, Bryce Moore, and Whittington represented in the 60m dash. KV competes next Saturday in another HSR qualifier hosted by Lafayette McCutcheon in Purdue's Lambert Fieldhouse.
